Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform and good image by applying electrostatic charging uniformly on the surface of a photoreceptor prior to formation of a continuous image, and controlling the uniform electrostatic charge holding time until the start of image formation in accordance with the pause time of the photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION:The rotation of a photosensitive drum 1 is started and at the same time, voltage is applied on only the primary corona discharger 13, by which the drum 1 is electrostatically charged uniformly. The discharger 13 is turned off and the drum 1 is rotated prescribed times.
