Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance efficiency of electrochemical fluorination by electrochemically fluorinating an org. compound in the presence of saturated cyclic sulfone to reduce frequency of cleaning of an electrode and exchange of an electrolyte solution.
CONSTITUTION: In subjecting an org. compound to electrochemical fluorinating reaction, a saturated cyclic sulfone shown by a formulaI(wherein R is H or 1W4C alkyl, n is 3W11) is added in an electrolyte solution along with an org. compound and maintained in a desired concn. range. Said sulfone is simultaneously fluorinated along with the org. compound but, by the presence of said sulfone, formation of a resin like polymer is controlled and prevented and, as the result, an electrolytic time can be prolonged to a large extent.
