Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease in productivity owing to galling damages by forming the outside diameter of a plunger tip smaller than the inside diameter of an injection cylinder, and mounting rings of an outside diameter roughly equal to the inside diameter of the injection cylinder onto the plunger tip. CONSTITUTION:An injector for die casting consists of an injection sleeve 1 having a charging port 4 and a plunger tip 2 operated by a plunger rod 5, and the molten metal from the port 4 is forcibly fed into dies by means of the tip 2. The outside diameter of the tip 2 is smaller than the inside diameter of the cylinder 1 and a clearance 3 is provided between both to obviate the occurrence of galling. Rings 6 roughly equal to the inside diameter of the cylinder 1 are provided by plural pieces easily interchangeably onto the tip 2, and the rings 6 are provided with scores 7 respectively in different positions. Thus, the tip 2 of a long life is obtained at low manufacturing costs, and the casting defects of castings are eliminated.
