Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve productivity by charging an ingot in the state of lump into the sleeve of a casting device, melting the same in a short time through high frequency heating and forcibly feeding the molten metal into the cavity of dies by means of a plunger in vertical type casting.
CONSTITUTION: A charging device is lowered by a plunger 10, and an aluminum ingot 12 is charged into a sleeve 4. A high frequency coil 11 is moved and the sleeve 4 is moved upward into this coil, thence the ingot 12 is melted by high frequency heating. After the ingot 12 is melted, the sleeve 4 is lowered and the coil 11 is moved. Again the charging device is moved upward to couple the top end of the sleeve 4 to dies 2. After this, a plunger 7 is forced upward by an injection cylinder 9 to fill molten metal 6 into a cavity 3, and the molten metal is allowed to solidify. This operation is repeated continuously, whereby the casting work is accomplished continuously.
