Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce printing time and to increase printing speed in a printer in which characters are composed of dot matrices and characters for one line are printed at a time by a method wherein the line in which all characters are given in a simple form are printed by roughening vertical dot concentration. CONSTITUTION:In a line buffer 1 are stored printing data in which characters for one line are coded and dot data for a 1st row of characters for one line in response to said data are taken out of a character generator 2 and transferred to an outout buffer 3. In this way, the dots of the 1st row are recorded by a printing mechanism 6. Then, after the paper feed for one row, the 2nd row is printed. However, when all characters for one line stored in the line buffer 1 take a simple form, simple character flags have been written on a simple character flag 5, therefore, paper feed is carried out for every two rows and no other than rows of add number are recorded in the dot.
