Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable continuous printing of vertical and horizontal rule lines without any blank spaces by controlling the rule line printing on the basis of character printing according to a character code information in write data and of an inteface information of rule-line printing. CONSTITUTION:A printing head 1 is positioned in an arrowed position 1-1 when a character is printed on the first line on a printing paper sheet 3 and in an arrowed position 1-3 when the character is printed on the second line thereon. Accordingly, the head 1 starts a new line with a new-line starting pitch P. In the case when the head 1 is in the arrowed position 1-1 and prints a vertical rule mark 5, a printing pin 2 within the range Y1 of the printing width y of the printing head 1 is made not to strike, based on a vertical rule-mark order in the write data. In the case of printing of a horizontal rule line 6, striking of the printing pin is made to continue even within a printing interval x', based on a horizontal rule-line order in the write data.
