Abstract

1448837 Control of printers COMPAGNIE HONEYWELL BULL 9 Nov 1973 [9 Nov 1972] 52246/73 Heading G4H A printer incorporates means for determining the amount of movement required between the current printing line and the next line on which data is to be printed. Printing takes place on a vertical succession of sheets separated by perforations. Data to be printed is divided into categories of information to each of which are assigned "stop levels" arranged in ascending numerical order which are the distances (measured as the number of inter-line spaces) between the top of a sheet and the various lines on which data of that category is to be printed. The required movement is determined by successively subtracting the distance from the top of the sheet of the printhead (number of inter-line spaces) from the stop-levels of the corresponding category until the first positive result is obtained. If the result is never positive, then to the result of the first subtraction is added the number of inter-line spaces corresponding to the height of the sheet, so that the print head can be aligned with the first relevant stop level on the succeeding sheet. Suitable apparatus is described for carrying out the above method
