Abstract

PURPOSE:To exercise excellent tape tension control by applying the load of mechanical torque and the load of the torque of an electromagnetic brake, whose current is controlled according to a turning speed, to a supply reel turntable. CONSTITUTION:A reel turntable 2 is fitted rotatably around a fixed spindle 18; and a movable iron core 23 is fixed on the internal circumference of its internal cylinder 2c, and a pulley 11 is fitted around its external circumference. An electromagnet coil 24 is inserted into an electromagnet yoke 16, and felt 27 is adhered to an upper iron plate 27, thus constituting an electromagnetic tension means. In this constitution, the reel turntable 2 is applied with a constant-value mechanical load by the friction of a belt 12, etc., during a tape run. The turning of a magnet pulley 13 is detected by a turning detecting element 14 and a control current flows through the coil 24 to attracted the movable iron core 23, thereby applying a load controlled electromagnetically through the felt 27, etc. Consequently, the tension of a tape is controlled excellently by the back tension of both loads.
