Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform vertical magnetization recording of a sharp recording magnetization distribution with a small power by superposing a magnetic field, which accords to a reocrding current, onto the bias magnetic field of a direction vertical to a recording medium and recording them. CONSTITUTION:A required bias magnetic field is applied to moving magnetic recording medium 31 in the vertical direction by the current which is applied from bias supply circuit 38 to coil 37 wound around magnetic pole 36. Meanhwile, medium 31 is magnetized vertically correspondingly to the recording current, which is applied to coil 34 wound around magnetic pole 33 opposite to magnetic pole 36 through recording amplifier 35, by the magnetic field where the bias magnetic field and the recording magnetic field are superposed. By this constitution, small- power sharp-magnetization distribution vertical magnetization recording dependent upon a small recording current can be performed, and restriction on design of the recording amplifier can be released.
