Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a titled wristwatch case which has the surface having high hardness and does not produce any flaws despite long-term use by forming a thin film of diamond structure on the surface of the wristwatch case. CONSTITUTION:A substrate holder 2 mounted with wristwatch cases and a vapor source 3 disposed with a carbon source such as fine particles of diamond, graphite block or the like are disposed in a vacuum bell-jar 1. After the inside of the bell-jar 1 is evacuated to a vacuum, an inert gas ion beam is irradiated from an evaporating energy irradiating source 5 to the source 3 to allow carbon to evaporate so that the vapor thereof is forced to arrive at the holder 2. At the same time, an inert gas beam such as He or Ne is irradiated from an inert gas ion source 4 to the holder 2, whereby the thin film of diamond structure is formed on the wristwatch cases mounted on the holder 2.
