Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a working tool material for hot extrusion capable of withstanding wear and seizing under severe conditions by adding a specified amount of C, Si, Cr, Mn, Ni, Co, Cu, Mo, W, etc. to Fe.
CONSTITUTION: This working tool material for hot extrusion consists of, by wt., 0.3W1.8%C, ≤2.0% Si, 15W40%Cr, ≤2.0% Mn, 15W60% Ni or Ni and Co (≤10%Co), 0.3W10.0%Cu, 0.5W6.0% Mo and/or W, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities or further contains 0.2W5.0% one or more among Ti, Zr, V, Nb, Ta and Al. By this composition the tool material has wear and seizing resistances under severe conditins such as a thermal impact and causes no deformation. By making use of this superior material, sections of complex shape are extruded with high productivity in a high yield.
