Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable restoring of activity of surfaces of deteriorate anode and cathode in a manner to attach an electrode to a measuring device, by a method wherein a given inverse voltage is applied so that a platinum anode for electrode forms a cathode and a silver cathode for electrode forms an anode. CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm-covered electrode for detecting hydrogen peroxide consists of a platinum anode 1, a silver cathode 3, and a fixed ferment film 4, and a specific voltage is applied at a range of 0.6-0.8V between the platinum anode 1 and the silver cathode 3. If an electrode is reduced in its activity for the long use, an inverse voltage of a given voltage being applied is applied for 20-60sec through the operation of a changing-over switch so that the platinum anode 1 forms a cathod, and the silver cathode forms an anode. If the voltae is restored to the specific voltage after the inverse voltage is applied, a residual current is high for the duration of 10min, and it is unsuitable for the measurement of a material which produces a dilute hydrogen oeroxide solution or a minute amount of a hydrogen peroxide. The residual current, however, becomes low 20mi later, and the measurement can take place.
