Abstract
PURPOSE: A monomer capable of ion exchange is grafted onto the surface of a porous polysulfon membrane to produce the titled membrane having low membrane resistance and high resistance to mineral acids and showing little dimensional change.
CONSTITUTION: Onto (A) the surface of a composite porous polysulfon membrane that is made by casting a solution of an aromatic polysulfone resin derived from disphenol-A and p,p'-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone in dimethylformamide on the supporter such as nonwoven fabric in a uniform thickness, is grafted (B) a monomer capable of iron exchange such as acrylic acid, most preferably by the discharge graft polymerization method, to form a high-polymer membrane capable of iron exchange. The thickness of the layer of the grafted polymer is preferably more than 1,000Å.
