Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure a recording free from uneven density by compensating for variability in the resistance value of a heat generating resistor with a driving circuit for driving the resistor at a voltage corresponding to the resistance value of the heat generating resistor. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal head provided with a plurality of heat generating resistors 1, a heat generating resistor driving circuit 2, a signal supply circuit 4 for supplying information signals, the driving circuit 2 and the like is composed of a switching element inserted in series into an energization passage of the heat generating resistors. The number of transistors composing individual switching elements is so selected that they have a saturated voltage corresponding to the resistance value of the heat generating resistors 1 connected thereto. This enables compensation for variability in the resistance value unavoidably produced in the manufacture of the heat generating resistors 1 thereby assuring a recording free from uneven density.
