PURPOSE:To regulate the reactive power of an induction motor by controlling the phase of a cycloconverter for supplying the energization current of low frequency to the secondary coil from a bus in response to the power factor of the bus and the rotating speed of the rotor. CONSTITUTION:The primary coil of a wound-rotor type induction generator IG is connected via a switch SW1 to a bus L, the secondary coil is connected via a switch SW2, a cycloconverter C/C, a transformer Tf, and switch SW3 to a bus L, and a rotor is rotated faster than the synchronizing speed. A controller C controls the phase of the converter C/C in response to the power factor of the bus L and the speed signal of the induction generator IG. In this manner, the reactive power can be supplied in the amount corresponding to the insufficient reactive power of the bus L.
