Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor with high sensitivity, high durability, superior heat and moisture resistance, etc. by adding a disazo or trisazo pigment having 8-benzamino-2-naphthol to a photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:A pigment represented by formulaI(where n is 2 or 3 and A is hydrocarbon having >=1 benzene ring, N-contg. hydrocarbon having >=2 benzene rings or hydrocarbon having >=2 heterocyclically bonded benzene rings) is used as a charge generating agent. The pigment includes a trisazo pigment (n=3 and A is represented by formula II) and a disazo pigment (n=2 and A is represented by formula III). A charge generating layer is formed on an electrically conductive substrate by dispersing said charge generating agent in a binder such as butyral resin, and on the layer a charge transferring layer is formed by dispersing a charge transferring substance such as tetracyanoethylene in a binder resin. Thus, an electrophotographic receptor having 3-layer structure is manufactured. This receptor has high sensitivity, hgih durability, superior heat resitance, etc.
