Abstract
PURPOSE: To permit setting of the time of termination of the coking period with high accuracy by applying the same relationship as the equation for the relation between the extent of temperature drop in a gas ascending tube and the average surface temperature during the carbonization process to a pluraity of furnaces.
CONSTITUTION: For one of furnaces 3 provided in a coke oven 1, the temperatures of gas in its gas ascending tube 6 and the furnace temperature are meassured to obtain a relationship of the formula[where Y is the extent of temperature drop of the gas ascending tube (the difference between maximum temperature of gas in the ascending tube and the furnace temperature at the termination of the coking period), X is the average furnace temperature during the coking period, and a0 and a1 are each a constant dependent on the coke oven]. Then, the time of termination of the coking period for each furnace is set up to meet said relation-ship, and the coke oven is operated. Also, inserted of the maximum temperature of gas in the ascending tube, the value obtained by using the average temperature of gas until the time when the temperature begins to rise from the charging time may be used as the extent of temperature drop of the ascending tube. In this case, however, the accuracy is slightly lowered.
