Abstract

PURPOSE: The lower parts of the front wall and the dividing wall are broken to form the opening for taking out the bricks to be replaced, the remaining checker bricks are supported and the rest bricks under the support are taken out, whereby the cooling of the furnace is minimized and the bricks are replaced with high efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: The bar 12 for supporting the brick piles of the front wall 7 and dividing wall 6 in the regenerating chamber is fixed between back stays 11-11. The brick piles of the lower parts of the front wall 7 and the dividing wall 6 are broken by required layers and the upper parts of the piles are supported with the L-shaped bar 13. Jacks 21 and 21 are set above the resulting opening for taking out checker bricks and the checker bricks 8-4 are broken at the bottom center. Then, the fork for supporting checker bricks 23 is inserted into the center bottom of the bricks 8-4 until the tip comes to the side of the dividing wall 6'. The fork 23 is lifted to raise bricks 8-4W8-17 and the other bricks 8-1W8-3 are taken out of the opening 18.
