Abstract

PURPOSE: To judge the time of carbonization comletion of coal, by using a mathematical equation estimating the carbonization completion by the time required for the emitted gas to reach the maximum temperature, followed by utilizing a mathematical equation defined by variables, a temperature drop gradient from the maximum temperature, water content of the coal at the time of feeding, and the amount of the coal fed, without measuring color tone and amount of the emitted gas from a coke oven and opening the top cover of a rising pipe.
CONSTITUTION: When the time required for the emitted gas to reach the maximum temperature starting from the feeding of the coal is X1 and the estimated time of carbonization completion is (Th), the time of carbonization completion can be estimated by the equation (Th)=aX1+b (a and b are constant). When a temperature drop gradient from the maximum temperature is steep, the real carbonization completion becomes fast, and vice versa. When the water content of the coal at the time of feeding and the amount of the coal fed increase, the real carbonization completion becomes first and vice versa. The final judgment of the time of the carbonization completion (T) is decded by the equation (T)=a1x1+a2x2+a3x3+a4x4+b (x2 is the temperature drop gradient, x3 is water content of the coal at the time of feeding; x4 is the amount of the coal fed; a1W4 and b are constant). The time of the carbonization completion can be estimated three hours earlier than the real completion, judged more accurately at the final stage of carbonization, and the maximum deviation of the estimated time of the carbonization completion from the real time is within 25 minutes.
