Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the automatic equalizing function and the fixed equalizing function selectively, by using a tap register, which is used for automatic equalizing, as a data register. CONSTITUTION:Impulse responses of respective reverse characteristics of links 1, 2 and 4 out of links 0-7 are stored in a coefficient memory 14 as fixed tap coefficients. When the equalizer is used as a fixed equalizer, a desired equalized output signal of links 0-7 is obtained by combination of 3-bit control codes. Consequently, the coefficient memory 14 is added, and tap coefficients for the fixed equalizer are given to the automatic equalizer, and the transversal filter part consisting of a data register 7, a multiplier 10, and an accumulator 12 is shared between automatic equalizing the fixed equalizing, thus providing the automatic equalizing function as well as the fixed equalizing function.
