Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the automatic equalizing function and the fixed equalizing function selectively with minimum circuit constitution, by sharing a transversal filter part between automatic equalizing and fixed equalizing. CONSTITUTION:Impulse responses of reverse characteristics of respective links are stored in a coefficient memory 18 as fixed tap coefficients, and optional one out of them is selected, and the convolutional operation with an unequalized input signal is performed to obtain an equalized output signal. Consequently, the coefficient memory 18 is added, and tap coefficients for fixed equalizing are given to the automatic equalizer, thus sharing a transversal filter part, which consists of a data register 11, a multiplier 13, an adder 15, and an accumulator consisting of a shift register 16, between automatic equalizing and fixed equalizing.
