Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove a toner easily, by dividing a electric conductive brush into plural areas, applying voltage being opposite in polarity to that of a residual toner, to the divided brush part which contacts with a recording medium, and applying voltage of the same polarity, to the part which does not contact with the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning device 7 of an electrostatic printing equipment is provided with a cleaning roller 10 for holding a bursh 9 contacting with a recording drum 1, and a toner collecting roller 11, in a case body 8. The brush 9 is equally divided into four parts, and they are provided with electrodes 12a-12d which have been insulated electrically, respectively. These electrodes and the conductive brush 9 are connected electrically, and electric insulation between the brushes is maintained. To the brush contacting with the recording medium 1 through a contact 13, a voltage being opposite in polarity to charge of a residual toner is applied, and to the divided brush which does not contact with the recording medium 1 through a contact 14, a voltage of the same polarity as the charge of the toner is applied.
