Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the insertion loss, to equalize the photocoupling, and to execute it with high efficiency, by using a repeating rod having a cylindrical optical conductor part whose thickness is similar to the core diameter of an input/output optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A repeating rod 11 has a structure which has formed a cylindrical high refractive index optical conductor part 13 whose thickness is similar to the core diameter of an input/output optical fiber, between an outside circumferential side layer 12 of a low refractive index amd a center side layer 14, by a CVD method, etc. and the number of apertures is made larger than that of the input/output optical fiber. To one end 15 of said rod 11 and to the other end 16, input optical fibers 17, 18 and an output optical fiber group 19 are set, respectively, so that each fiber core contacts with said optical conductor part 13. and are tightly fixed by a transparent matching adhesive agent, etc. having the same refractive index as that of said optical conductor part 13.
