Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the time when water is generated by differentiating the impedance between two electrodes from the drying time with a porous insulation film so made of a fine powder of conductive material as to be mixed in dispersion between the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A porous electrode 2 mainly composed of a metal oxide Bi2Ru2O7 of is formed on the top surface of an alumina substrate 6. A paste comprising a powder mixture of 80 part by volume of glass powder with a diameter of 5mum or less and 20 part by volume of metal oxide Bi2RU2O7 of pyrochroite type crystal with a diameter of 5mum or less is printed by a screen printing and sintered on the electrode 2 to form a porous insulation film 5 in which a fine powder of conductive material is dispersed in an insulating material. Another electrode 4 is provided on the insulation film 5 to make a moisture detecting element. The moisture detecting element thus formed is limited in secular change because it utilizes changes in the dielectric constant due to impregnated moisture of the porous insulation film and electric conduction between fine powders of conductive material through water attached thereto.
