Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of the laser diode even when a feedback system loop gets trouble, and to emit stable light output by controlling the temperature of the laser diode at a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:The power source device is composed of a power source section 1', output thereof can be controlled, a protective resistor 2, the laser diode 3, a photosensor 4 detecting the output light of the laser diode 3, a feedback controlling section 5 controlling the output of the power source section 1' so as to make the light output of the laser diode 3 constant by means of the photosensor 4, a temperature sensor 6 detecting the ambient temperature of the laser diode 3 and the temperature of laser diode 3 itself, a thermoelectric element 7 heating and cooling the laser diode 3, and a temperature controlling section 8 controlling the magnitude of currents conducted through the thermoelectric element 7 so that the temperature of the laser diode 3 reaches within a prescribed temperature range on the basis of the temperature sensor 6.
