Abstract

PURPOSE:To keep a constant photo output of a semiconductor laser, by a method wherein a resistance, connected in parallel or in series to the semiconductor laser, is caused to change accordig to the temperature. CONSTITUTION:A resistor 2 is connected in parallel to a laser diode 1, and a power source, charging a constant-current, is coupled to the parallel circuit. The laser diode 1 is increased in an oscillating threshold as temperature increases, and thereby a resistor 2, having an appropriate temperature-resistance property is used. Or, if the resistance value of the resistor 2 is adjusted by hand according to the temperature, a current flowing to the laser diode 1, can be kept in a constant manner and the photo output can be kept constantly even if temperature changes. Additionally, the resistor is connected in series to the laser diode and the series circuit may be joined to a power source of a constant voltage.
