Abstract

PURPOSE:To write a data into an optional area of a magnetic recording medium, by writing the magnetized inversion information into the recording medium before writing the data and at the same time detecting the data. CONSTITUTION:When a start switch SW is turned on, a magnetic head H moves from left to right and along a magnetic tape 10a. Meanwhile the signal corresponding to the magnetized inversion information ''o'' is written onto the tape 10a. Then the right advance of the head H is detected by a right edge detector 28, and thus a control signal MC is supplied to a motor 20 to give a left advance to the head H. When the left advance of the head H is detected by a left edge detector 26, the head H moves right to read the information ''o'' from the tape 10a. The signal that is read at that time is supplied to an AND gate A4 via a contact (b), etc. of a relay RY2. Thus the head H writes the data signal onto the tape 10a during the right advance. In such way, the data can be written into an optional area of a mangetic recording medium.
