Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled polymer particles having fine particle diameter, and useful as a paper filler, by adding the waste filtrate solution discharged from the filtration process of the titled polymer to the reaction system at a specific stage of the reaction of a precondensate derived from urea and formaldehyde with an aqueous solution of an acid catalyst, and continuing the reaction.
CONSTITUTION: 1.0mol of urea and 1.4W1.9mol of formaldehyde are added to an aqueous solution of carboxymethyl cellulose sodium salt, etc., and made to react at pH6W10 and 10W95°C to obtain the precondensate. The precondensate is mixed with an aqueous solution of an acid catalyst such as sulfuric acid, and under stirring, fed to a conveyor belt to solidify the condensate. Before solidification, the waste filtrate solution produced in the filtration process of the product is charged to the reaction system as a diluting water. The solidified product is slurried with water, finely divided to the particle diameter of 1W10μ by colloid mill, etc., and filtered and dehydrated to obtain the objective polymer particles. The produced waste filtrate solution is recycled as stated above.
EFFECT: Fine particles of 0.1W1μ diameter can be obtained, and the environmental pollution can be prevented.
