Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the efficient rising of sludge and to enhance the concentration of solid matter in concentrated sludge, by reducing the cross sectional area of the middle stage part of a floating vessel so as to raise an internal stress on an accumulated sludge layer.
CONSTITUTION: When sludge mixed with pressurized water is fed into a floating vessel 1 through its bottom, dissolved gas in the pressurized water turns into fine bubbles and adheres to the sludge. The sludge, affected with buoyancy, rises inside the vessel 1, reaches the water surface 7 and forms an accumulated sludge layer 8. In this case, a projecting part 2 is formed at nearly the central stage of the vessel 1 and slightly above the water surface 7, so that internal stresses in the accumulated sludge layer 8 and an underwater sludge layer 9 increase and that each sludge concentration becomes high. Consequently, the concentration of solid matter in concentrated sludge taken out through a discharge hole 6 is enhanced at 6W7% or so.
