Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an ultrafine barium sulfate having small average particle diameter and narrow particle size distribution, and capable of forming a resin molded product having extremely high transparency by dispersing in a resin (solution).
CONSTITUTION: Barium sulfate particles wherein the average particle diameter of the primary particles is 0.01W0.08μ and the primary particles of ≤1μ diameter account for ≥90wt% of the whole. The objective particles can be prepared by introducing an aqueous solution of barium sulfide and an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid continuously into a reactor [e.g. a Nisso-Warman pump (an impeller-type pump manufactured by Taiheiyo Kinzoku K.K.)] keeping the concentration of the barium sulfide in excess, and reacting the components in a short time under stirring, thereby suppressing the growth of the particle.
