Abstract

PURPOSE: In discharging formed silver halide particles to a reaction container at the upper part of a blender, to make a solution flow into a uniform axis flow, to make the distribution of a circulating time of the solution narrow, and to obtain silver halide particles having uniform sizes by changing the solution flow into a flow in the vertical direction.

CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of a halide and an aqueous solution of a sliver salt are fed from pipes 3 and 3' respectively to the lower part of the blender 2 in the reactor 1, diluted with a colloidal aqueous solution respectively, stirred, blended vigorously, and reacted to form silver halide particles. The formed silver halide particles are discharged from the open end 22 to a bulk solution by the upper agitating element 5. In the operation, the upper open end 22 is equipped with the regulating plate 7 for a solution flow, and the spiral flow of the solution flow is converted into an axis flow. Consewquently, the solution flow as a uniform axis flow is discharged to the upper part outside the blender, so that the difference of the period of recycling movement between each of silver halide particles becomes small, and the difference of the process of growth between each of silver halide particles is minimized, thus to give silver halide particles having uniform particle size diameters.
