Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a high-quality sodium percarbonate having excellent storage stability and nearly the theoretical composition ratio of hydrogen peroxide to sodium carbonate, by using sodium carbonate wherein the amounts of the impurities are below respective specific values.
CONSTITUTION: Sodium percarbonate is prepared by reacting sodium carbonate with hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous medium (if necessary, in the presence of EDTA as a stabilizer). In the above process, sodium carbonate containing ≤10ppm of Fe, ≤2ppm of Cu, ≤1ppm of Mn, ≤6ppm of Ni and ≤50ppm of water-insoluble components, is used as a raw material.
