Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect and control a temperature obtained by adding suitably the temp. of the heater and the atmosphere temperature in a heating and fixing device through a temperature detection member by contacting a temperature measuring part of the temperature detection member with the heater via a heat-resistant insulator. CONSTITUTION:The lower edge face of a thermistor 8 is made to touch directly onto a heater 4a and bonded with an adhesive 12. A temperature measuring part 13 is made opposite to the heater 4a via an outer coat made of a heat-resistant insulator 10 such as glass or the like. Otherwise a thermocouple is used instead of contacting the thermistor 8 with the heater 4a. The thermocouple is positioned via the insulator 10 so as to locate the tip part functioning as a temperature measuring part little apart from the heater 4a. Then a direct contact is given between the thermocouple and the heater 4a to measure the temperature of heater. The atmosphere temperature of a fixing device is also available for measuring by a thermocouple located at the position higher than the heater 4a by about 2mm..
