Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the overheat of a heater by arranging a temperature detecting unit such as a thermocouple or a thermistor in the heat accumulating layer of a heat sensitive head, thereby accurately and rapidly detecting the temperature of the head. CONSTITUTION:In a heat sensitive head in which an electrode 3 is formed on a heat accumulating layer 2 on a base plate 1 and a heater 4 and a protective film 5 are further formed, a temperature detecting unit 6 which is formed of thermocouple electrodes 7, 8 is disposed in the layer 2 directly under the heater 4. Heat produced by the heater 4 serves to generate a color at a heat sensitive sheet, and is transmitted through the layer 2 to the detecting unit 6. Since the heat transmitted to the detecting unit 6 becomes lower than the temperature of the heater 4 but proportional temperature, the output voltage of the detecting unit 6 is calibrated by the temperature of the heater 4. The detecting unit 6 may be formed over the entirety in the layer 2, and may also employ a thermistor or the like.
