Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent fine holes from clogging, facilitate discharging of uncalcined sand owing to a high pressure gas and improve the yield of core sand by ejecting a low pressure gas through the fine holes provided on the side opposite from a hollow core forming cavity packing and discharging port during packing of the core sand.
CONSTITUTION: During packing of core sand, a 4-way 3-position valve 13 is changed over to feed compressed air from a compressed air source 14 to a low pressure side reducing valve 17 and to eject it under prescribed low pressure into a cavity 3 through a piping 15 then through a nipple 8, a lead hole 7, and the fine holes 11, 11 of a cap 6, thereby packing core sand 12 through the packing and discharging port 4 of a metal mold in an erecting position. Next, the mold 1 is heated to calcine and mold a core 2 at the preset thickness from the inner side surface of the cavity 3. Thence, the mold 1 is put in an inverted position via revolving shafts 18, 18, and the unifired sand 12' in the core 2 is discharged by gravity through the port 4; at the same time, the valve 13 is changed over to a high pressure side reducing valve 17' to eject high pressure air through the holes 11, 11, thereby forcibly discharging the uncalcined core sand 12' through the port 4. Thereafter, the mold 1 is opened and the hollow core 2 is obtained.
