Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled composition suitable as an adhesive, quickly curable under heating, comprising a cationic polymerizable organic substancne and a phosphorus atom-containing Lewis acid or a phosphonium salt of a strong acid in a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100Pts.wt. cationic polymerizable organic substance (e.g., epoxy resin, etc.) is blended with (B) 0.1W15pts.wt. Lewis acid consisting of a cation having one or more phosphorus atoms and no aromatic group and a nonnucleophilic aninon (e.g., BF4 -, etc.) shown by the formula MQm (M is B, P, Sb, etc.; Q is halogen, e.g., F, etc.; m is 1W6) or phosphonium salt of a strong acid, and the blend is heated to give a cured material. The addition of (C) 0.1W25pts.wt. curing accelerator selected from the group consisting of a nucleophilic reagnet (e.g., thiophenol, etc.), an organometallic compound (e.g., copper, etc.) and a metallic salt of an organic acid can further shorten the curing time.
