Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a muting circuit which can suppress pop sound to a small value in high speed, by providing a switching means which makes short-circuit the both ends of a resistive element having proportional relation with the gain of an amplifier. CONSTITUTION:A muting circuit 6 consisting of transistors (TR) Q5-Q9 is provided for a PWM amplifier 3 consisting of TRs Q1-Q4 amplifying the output signal of a PWM modulator 2. If no muting signal to the TRQ5 is present, the TRs Q5-Q9 turn off and the amplifier 3 makes normal amplification. When the muting signal to the TRQ5 is at high level, the TRs Q5-Q9 are turned on, and collector resistors R3, R4 proportional to the gain of the TRs Q1, Q2 of the amplifying circuit are in short circuit with the TRs Q8, Q9. Thus, the circuit gain is controlled to zero and no signal is introduced to the output for muting operation. High speed operation is possible to constitute the muting circuit electronically, and since muting is given with the PWM amplification circuit, no pop sound is amplified in comparison with the muting at the first stage of the system, allowing to suppress the pop sound.
