Abstract
PURPOSE:To apply a bias to a transfer material efficiently by providing a thin lib- like electrode, which applies a bias voltage to the transfer material, in the inside of a transfer guide which specially restricts the carriage of the transfer material. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 10 which applies a bias, which separated from a transfer guide 6, is provided between an upper and a lower guides >=2% apart from the surface of an image carrying body to prevent contamination due to toner. For the effective bias application to a bias electrode, the electrode is formed to a rib- shape having an extremely small width and is provided to be brought into contact with a transfer material by plural projections. Consequently, the contamination due to proximity to a carrier surface having a toner image never occurs and nearly linear or spot contact with the transfer material is made, thereby improving the efficiency of the bias application.
