Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the adjusting time for axial alignment and simplify the construction of a working head by forming an assist gas ejecting nozzle of a material which is high in absorbancy of laser beam and is instantaneously pierced with a hole by laser, into the construction having no gas ejecting hole prior to working. CONSTITUTION:An assist gas ejecting nozzle 9 consisting of a material, such as an acrylic resin or ceramics, which absorbs laser beam well and is instantaneously sublimated and pierced by laser, and having no gas ejecting hole prior to working is mounted to the leading end of a working head. Thereupon, an assist gas is introduced through an assist gas lead-in port 4, to apply gaseous pressure to the space 10 in the working head consistituted of a transmission pipe 2, a condenser lens 3 and the nozzle 9. If in this state a laser oscillator is started and the laser beam is irradiated to the nozzle 9, the acrylic resin or ceramics evaporates instantaneously, thereby forming a gas ejecting port.
