Abstract

PURPOSE:To irradiate an ejection gas effectively to the work piece to be worked by forming a focusing device into the construction having a through-hole. CONSTITUTION:In a device of condensing laser beam with a focusing device 6 and irradiating the same to the wokpiece 3 to be worked, a through-hole 7 is provided on the surface of the device 6 not in contact with a laser beam 1 roughly perpendicularly to the surface of the workpiece 3. A pipe 8 for ejection gas is fitted into the hole 7, and is so mounted that the leading end of the pipe 8 does not contact with the beam 1 right above the working part 5. Here, if a gas such as Ar or O2 is ejected from the hole 7 or the pipe 8 to the working part 5, the gas is irradiated perpendicularly and uniformly to the surface of the workpiece 3.
