Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A theophylline drivative of formula I [R is H or alkyl; Z is group of formula IV (X1 and X2 are H, alkyl, alkoxyl, CF3 or halogen), pyridyl or formula V (Y1 and Y2 are X1); X is N or C; n is an integer 2W10] and an acid addition salt thereof.
EXAMPLE: 7-[2-[4-p-Chlorobenzhydrylpiperazinyl-(1)]ethyl]-theophylline.
USE: A medicine, having the vasodilator action, increasing action on blood flow, inhibitory action on blood platelet agglutination and remarkable improving effects on cerebral coronary arterial and peripheral blood flow, and useful as a psychotropic agent, antihistaminic agent,analgesic agent, antiasthmatic agent, antiallergic agent and hypotensive agent.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II (A is halogen, etc.) is reacted with a compound of formula III in the absence or presence of a solvent, e.g. ethanol or methanol, preferably under heating to the boiling point of the solvent, to give the compound of formula I.
