Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform a shrinking treatment in a short period of time without using any fire, by method wherein a metallic material is previously disposed in a heat-shrinkable tube to be subjected to a heat treatment, and said tube having the metallic material disposed therein is heated by means of an induction heating coil. CONSTITUTION:Reference numeral 1 denotes a power cable, which is coated with a heat-shrinkable tube 4 incorporating a metallic material in built-in manner. Reference numeral 5 denotes an induction heating coil, which is set on the outer periphery of the heat-shrinkable tube 4 incorporating the metallic material in built- in manner. Accordingly, when a high-frequency current is supplied to the induction heating coil 5, the metallic material incorporated in the heat-shrinkable tube 4 in built-in manner is heated by means of an eddy current. Consequently, the tube 4 is heated to a shinkage starting temperature in a short period of time to start shrinking speedily. Thereby, shrinking treatment can be performed in a short period of time without using any fire.
