Abstract

PURPOSE:To seal hermetically the gap between a can and insulating paper and a carbon stick with an opening sealing agent and prevent the leakage of electrolyte, by inserting a paper color provided with an opening sealing agent layer formed on it into a zinc can containing an anode compound separated by the insulating paper, and fusing the opening sealing agent by heating while preheating the can. CONSTITUTION:An anode compound 1 holding a carbon stick 2 is packed in a zinc can 3, being separated by insulation paper 4. A paper collar 8 coated with a thermally fusible opening sealing agent layer 10 on its upper surface is fixed on the upper suface 5 of the compound 1 with a pressing jig 11. Next, heating jig 13 is made to descend, while touching the insulation paper 4 and the carbon stick 2, and to heat and fuse the opening sealing agent layer 10 by touching the layer 10. The insulation paper 4 and the inner surface of the can 3 are put closely together by allowing the liquefied opening sealing agent to permeate through gaps of fibers of the insulating paper 4 to the inside surface of the can 3 on the upper surface of the compound 1. Furthermore, the opening sealing agent is made to permeate through and adhere to pores of the carbon stick 2 from which air is driven away by preheating. Thereby, the leakage of electrolyte in a dry cell to the outside can be prevented.
