Abstract
PURPOSE: To heat the activated soil and maintain the purification function of living things in soil under the extremes of cold weather by providing a heat transfer pipes which is buried at one end in the activated soil and is in contact at the other end with a heat source in a soil type sewage treating device.
CONSTITUTION: Heat transfer pipes 6 are installed at one end 6a in an aerating tank 1, and buried at the other end 6b in the activated sludge 3 in the upper part of an aerating tank 1 at suitable intervals. The pipes 6 are made by sealing working liquid such as ammonia, Furon, methyl alcohol and the like within metallic pipes. When the heat receiving part of the one end 6a absorbs heat from the heat source, the working fluid in the end 6a evaporates and the vapor thereof flows to the other end 6b side, and releases the heat of condensation in the activated soil from the other end 6b. The condensed liquid is reflowed to the end 6a side by capillarity, and by the repetition of these operations, the heat in the tank 1 is transported into the activated sludge.
