Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The tylosin derivative of formula I [R1 is H, OH, or alkanoyloxy; R2 is OH or alkanoyloxy; the dotted line is single bond or double bond (when R1 is H, the dotted line is double bond)].
EXAMPLE: 3,4"-Di-O-acetyl-4'-deoxydemycarosyl tylosin.
USE: Antibacterial agent and its intermediate.
PROCESS: The demycarosyl tylosin of formula II having protected aldehyde group at the 20-position is made to react with the (substituted) benzylsulfonic acid (or its reactive derivative) to convert the 4'-position to sulfonic acid ester. The resulted compound of formula III is treated with an alkali metal halide to obtain the compound of formula IV wherein the 4'-position is converted to a halogen-substituent. The compound is reacted with tri-substituted tin halide to obtain the deoxy compound of formula V, which is convertd to the objective compound of formula I by removing the protecting group from the aldehyde group, etc.
