Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a sensitive material with high sensitivity in the wavelength region ranging from the whole visible region to an infrared region by using a specified methine dye in a charge generating layer. CONSTITUTION:A polymethine dye represented by formula I (where each of A, B, D and E is H, alkyl, phenyl or a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, >=2 of them are phenyl groups, where Q is alkyl, phenyl or styryl, m is 0 or 1, n is 0 or 1, when m is 1, n is 0 where X is an anion selected from alkylsulfonic acid, alkylidsulfonic acid, benzenedisulfonic acid and halosulfonic acid, and l is 1 or 2), especially a dye having groups represented by formula II (where each of R1 and R2 is alkyl) as >=2 of A, B, D and E is vapor-deposited as a charge generating substance to form a thin dye layer, or the dye is dispersed in a binder to form a charge generating layer on an electrically conductive support either over or under of a charge transferring layer on the support. The especially preferred binder is soluble polyamide. Thus, a receptor with high sensitivity up to an infrared region up to 1,100nm is obtd.
