Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a panchromatic photosensitive material having high sensitivity in a region ranging from visible light to infrared light by forming a charge generating layer contg. a specified polymethine dye and a charge transferring layer on an electrically conductive support. CONSTITUTION:A charge generating layer and a charge transferring layer are formed on an electrically conductive support to manufacture an electrophotographic receptor. The charge generating layer consists of soluble polyamide as a binder and a polymethine dye represented by formula I [where each of A, B, D and E is H, alkyl, phenyl or a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, two or more of them are phenyl, Q is alkyl, phenyl or styryl, (m) is 0 or 1, (n) is 0, 1 or 2, (n) is 0 when (m) is 1 and X<-> is an anion], preferably a dye in which two or more of A, B, D and E are represented by formula II (where each of R1 and R2 is alkyl). Thus, the receptor has high sensitivity in a wavelength region ranging from visible light to infrared light of 1,100nm, and a clear image is obtd.
