Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a flexible smooth electrophotographic receptor having high sensitivity, satisfactory hardness, tensile strength, friction resistance, etc. by allowing a specified divinylbenzene compound as a photoconductive substance to be contained in a photosensitive layer.
CONSTITUTION: A divinylbenzene compound (DVB) is dissolved in a binder soln. together with a sensitizing dye showing absorption in the visible region in accordance with a light source used, and the resulting soln. is applied to an electrically conductive support and dried to form a photosensitive layer. Thus, a photoreceptor is manufactured. The DVB is represented by the formula (where R is carbazolyl, pyridyl, thienyl, indolyl, furyl, optionally substituted phenyl, optionally substituted styryl, optionally substituted naphthyl or optionally substituted anthryl and the substituent includes amino, alkyl, alkoxy, carboxy or its ester, halogen, cyano, aralkyl, amino, hydroxy, nitro and acetylamino). A photosensitive layer having a DVB layer contg. a dispersed charge carrier generating substance such as azo pigment or CdS as a charge transferring layer may be formed.
