Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a crack and prolong lamp life without deteriorating lamp characteristics by providing a notched section at least at one crushed sealed section using laser light and forming a small width section. CONSTITUTION:Metallic foil conductors 5a, 5b, and 6 consisting of hard to melt metals such as molybdenum, etc. are sealed in each crushed sealed sections 2a and 2b and connected to the respective main and auxiliary electrodes. At least either this sealed section 2a or 2b is positioned between the main electrode 3 and metallic foil conductor 5a. Notches 9 and 9 are formed on both sides using laser beam and a small width section 10 is formed. Thermal condution which advances on the tip side of the sealed sections 2a and 2b can be controlled by this small width section 10. Lamp efficiency can be improved and ununiformity of lamp light colors be reduced.
