Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce manufacturing cost, to prevent deterioration of photoreceptor characteristics due to temperature rise, to stabilize image quality, and to raise copying speed, by automatically restoring surface voltage of a photosensitive drum to zero potential during one cycle of copying steps ends. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive drum 22 is uniformly charged to 850V with a charger 23 upon start of copying, and a sequence of fixed steps are executed with an exposure device 24, a developing device 27, etc. During the development the surface potential of the drum 22 is kept at >=600V. The drum 22 is subjected to successive processes through a transfer device 28, a separation device 30, and a cleaning device 31, completing one cycle. During one cycle of the drum, its surface potential decays and returns to zero potential lower than a developing bias. In addition, the drum 22 is made of a selenium-tellurium alloy containing 22% tellurium concentration.
